Merry Christmas from LWOP in Chile

(December 25 – written by Santa Dave)

Just a quick note to say Merry Christmas from Puerto Natales, Chile.  We’ve had a great day here in Southern Chile.  Victor and Patty, our AirB&B hosts, invited us to join their extended family for Christmas dinner.  We of course said yes.  We already picked up food to eat and made too much so we just chucked it all into the pot and enjoyed a fantastic feast.  Plus we had some great mixed Spanish and English conversations.  We can’t say enough good about Victor and Patty – they are great hosts and give not only AirB&B but Chile in general a great name.  Thanks guys for hosting us.

We’ve taken a few Christmas/Chile photos – some things here are the same, some are different.  We hope you enjoy the show.  And even more, we hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas and eating some great food.

We head out tomorrow for the last stretch of “mainland” Chile.  We’ll be in Punta Arenas, Chile in a couple days, and then will hop over to the large island of Terra del Fuego, which is split between Chile and Argentina.  Our final destination is Ushuaia, the southernmost city in South America.  Here’s hoping for tailwinds and no rain.

Of course, it is Feliz Navidad, instead of Merry Christmas

Still, crazy tourists can’t avoid taking daggy photos near the waterfront

There is a lot more indigenous art here

No turkeys here, lamb instead.  And yes, the normal grocery store sells them just butchered, complete with heads.  We followed this woman through the checkout and were happy to see the check-out gal wash the conveyor and scanner before we were served.  Wow
