Day zero

Day 0 – Thanks to Jeanette and Ross

Written by Dave

We start tomorrow…  The battle for pack space is over – I’m calling it a draw.  We went out for a test ride fully loaded and had the usual wobbles but the bikes seemed to smooth out after the first bit so that is a good sign.

Special thanks in this post to Jeanette and Ross – we’ve been staying at their house now for a week.  Company for a week is never going to be easy but we made it extra hard. We brought 4 large boxes of trip stuff, 3 massive bags and a box from America and of course our bikes.  Sometime during our third day, all that stuff was spread end to end in the lounge room – a cyclone would have made less mess.  All the while, Jeanette and Ross never said a word.  Thanks guys, we couldn’t have done it without you.

We had a stunning ‘going away’ dinner – Ross made paella and we ate to our hearts’ content (with a bit of red wine thrown in for good measure!).  I am sure it will be a long time before we have another dinner like this.

Hard to believe we are finally starting after so long – we are ready to go.  Wish us luck!

  1. Bon Voyage! Many thanks to Ross & Jeanette for all their space and assistance, encouragement and meals (& wine) while my daughter, Nancy and son-in-law Dave got ready for this humongous ride. My prayers go with them as they have a great experience, meeting many good people along the way. Have fun and take care of each other! Love, Mom
